In 1993, Dwayne transitioned seamlessly into real estate development and investing when he joined forces with Walter F. Kieckhefer, Jr. A strong, mutually respectful alliance formed and, equally important, so did a close working and personal relationship with the Walter F. Kieckhefer, Jr. Family. After more than 24 years, the Kieckhefer Family and the Burton Family (which are actually related families) still work closely together.

To date, projects in which Tiburon Companies has participated have been limited to the development of office, light industrial and flex projects in the East Valley (Mesa and the City of Chandler). Tiburon @ Chandler Airport, which is the first solo venture for Tiburon Companies, continues that precedent.

Dwayne is pleased to have been joined by his three sons, each of who brings his own unique perspective to real estate development and investment.

After graduating from the University of Arizona in 1970 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree (with distinction), Dwayne went on to earn a Juris Doctorate degree (with high distinction) from the University of Arizona in 1973. Dwayne then clerked for the Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. After that, he joined the law firm of Fennemore Craig, where he rose to and served on the three-member Management Committee for more than six years. He left the practice of law in 1993 and established Tiburon Companies.

After graduating from Franklin & Marshall College in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts degree (as a Business major), Robert went on to earn his M.B.A. from Indiana University (majoring in both Finance and Business Development) in 2005. He has been employed by the Mayo Clinic and by Intel Corporation in their respective finance departments. He gained real estate development experience working at DMB Associates and Kieckhefer Company. Being more entrepreneurial than corporate, however, Robert joined Tiburon Companies in 2008.

After graduating from Hamilton College in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree (as an Economics major), Michael went on to earn his M.B.A. from Indiana University (as a Marketing major) in 2006. Michael interned at U.S. Trust Company and worked for Fresh Tracks Music in Chicago and then at Nintendo on the west coast in its marketing department. Given his strong interest in marketing and the prospect of establishing a Tiburon Companies “brand,” Michael joined Tiburon Companies in 2013.

John graduated from Lawrence University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree (as an Environmental Policy major). He was employed by Kieckhefer Company (in property management) prior to joining Tiburon Companies. Given the environmental movement in the real estate industry and his operating experience, John also joined Tiburon Companies in 2013.
